How to Set Up a Google Ads Account

Setting up a Google Ads account is the first step to running ads on Google Search, YouTube, and Display Network. The process is simple, and once your account is ready, you can start creating campaigns to get leads, sales, or website traffic.

Step 1: Sign In to Google Ads

  • Go to ads.google.com and sign in using your Gmail account.

  • If you don’t have a Gmail account, create one—it only takes a minute.

Step 2: Click “New Google Ads Account”

Google will ask your main advertising goal, such as:

  • Get more calls
  • Get more website sales/leads
  • Get more traffic

You can choose a goal or click “Switch to Expert Mode” for full control.

Step 3: Enter Your Business Information

Google will ask:

  • Your business name
  • Your website URL
  • Your location and timezone
  • Payment country and currency

This information helps Google personalize your account.

Step 4: Set Up Billing

  • Add your payment method (debit/credit card).

  • This allows Google to charge you only when your ads start running.

Step 5: Verify Your Account

  • Check your email for verification.
  • Once verified, your account is fully activated.

Example

  • Imagine you own a bakery.
  • You create your Google Ads account → add business details → enter your website → add payment.
  • Now you can start running a Search Ad for “Best Bakery Near Me” and get orders quickly.
