Google Ads Campaign Budget Types

Google Ads offers different budget types to help you control how your money is spent on ads. Choosing the right budget type ensures you don’t overspend and helps you get the best results for your goals.

1. Daily Budget

This is the most common budget type.
You set how much you want to spend per day on a campaign.

Example:

If you set a daily budget of ₹500, Google tries to spend around ₹500 per day (sometimes slightly more or less).

Best for:

✔ New advertisers
✔ Lead generation
✔ Traffic campaigns
✔ Continuous ads

2. Monthly Budget (Shared Budget / Total Budget)

Instead of daily spending, you set a total budget for the entire month.

Example:

You set ₹15,000 per month, and Google distributes this over the whole month based on demand and performance.

Best for:

✔ Businesses with fixed monthly budgets
✔ Agencies handling multiple clients
✔ Seasonal or limited-time ads

3. Campaign-Level Shared Budget

You create one budget and share it across multiple campaigns.

Example:

You have 3 campaigns (Search, Display, Video).
You set a shared monthly budget of ₹50,000, and Google allocates money to whichever campaign performs better.

Best for:

✔ Large accounts with multiple campaigns
✔ Smart budget allocation
✔ Reducing manual budget adjustments

4. Lifetime Budget

You set a total budget for the entire campaign duration (mostly used in Display & Video campaigns).

Example:

You run a 10-day YouTube campaign with a total of ₹10,000.
Google spreads the amount across those 10 days.

Best for:

✔ Event promotions
✔ Short campaigns
✔ Brand awareness during specific dates

Simple Real-Life Example

A bakery wants more orders for the weekend:

  • They run a 3-day campaign
  • Set a lifetime budget of ₹2,000
  • Google spreads it across Fri–Sun during peak times

This ensures they get maximum visibility without overspending.
